Tuesday 26 November, 2013 - The winning streak continues on the Gold Coast with the city recording another division one win in just a few days!
The winning man is the latest local to join the winner’s club and was overwhelmed by the news his ticket in The Pools had won a share in division one worth $285,192.89.
“It’s a big surprise!” he exclaimed.
“I know some people who like to joke around and I thought at first someone was playing a joke on me.”
The latest division one win comes just days after a Gold Coast woman scored a first division prize in Saturday Gold Lotto worth more than $820,000 with a QuickPick ticket she purchased at newsXpress Pacific Fair News.
Golden Casket spokesperson Belinda McDougall said this week’s wins could put the Gold Coast in the running for the coveted title of Queensland’s ‘Lotto Hotspot’ for 2013.
“In the mid-year hotspot data, the Gold Coast was sitting at equal second with three division one wins between 1 January 2013 and 22 June 2013,” Ms McDougall said.
The latest winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning QuickPick entry in The Pools from Benowa Gardens Newsagency, Shop 39 in Benowa Gardens Shopping Centre, corner of Ashmore and Benowa Roads, Benowa.
Owners Andrew and Narelle McTaggart were excited to learn they’d sold another division one winning entry this year; the first was a winning Saturday Gold Lotto ticket in April worth more than $2 million.
“They say lightning never strikes the same place twice but it has! It’s very exciting and there’s a real buzz in the store,” Mrs McTaggart said.
Throughout Australia, there were three entries that won a first division share in The Pools, each worth $285,192.89. Along with the winning ticket sold on the Gold Coast, the other winning entries were sold in New South Wales and Western Australia.
The winning numbers in The Pools draw 1478 were 1, 29, 30, 31, 36, and 37 with the supplementary number 27.
The Pools is a Golden Casket game where the winning numbers are based on the results of local and international soccer matches.
