Four Melbourne workmates split $20 million!

Wednesday 23 October, 2013 - A group of four colleagues has come forward to claim their $20 million Oz Lotto prize from last night’s draw! They’ll split the prize evenly to take home $5 million each.

The workmates were overcome with emotion today when they discovered they had the division one winning ticket after hearing news of the multi-million dollar win on the radio.

“One of the group called me to say they’d heard on the radio that someone who purchased a ticket from Canterbury Gardens Lotto had won $20 million, so we checked our ticket straight away!” one of the workmates explained through tears of joy.

“We’re all going to get some financial advice on how to spend the prize money before making any big decisions.”

The unregistered division one winning System 9 Oz Lotto ticket was purchased from Canterbury Gardens Lotto, Shop 8 at 17-39 Canterbury Road in Bayswater North. Thanks to their System 9 entry type, the group won the division one prize of $20,000,000.00 along with other divisional prizes for a total of $20,056,401.80. The four winners have chosen to remain anonymous.

Owner of Canterbury Gardens Lotto Mark Ma was overwhelmed to find that his customers had claimed the prize as he is a brand-new Tatts outlet franchisee.

“I only took over this shop on Monday, so in the first three days I’ve already sold a division one prize!” Mr Ma said.

“I was just joking to my wife last night about whether we could be lucky enough to sell the $20 million prize this week!”

This is the second major lotto win the Tatts outlet has sold within six months. In May this year another customer of Canterbury Gardens Lotto won a division one prize worth $607,042 in TattsLotto. The 55-year-old carpenter in Montrose said he’d buy a unit with the prize money and upgrade his car.

Tatts spokesperson Zoe Knobel said Tatts is pleased the unregistered winners came forward today to claim their valuable prize.

“We always encourage our players to register their lotto purchases to a Tatts Card to ensure their prizes are secure and they can be contacted directly with news of a division one win,” Ms Knobel said.

“As this group of workmates has done, players could also consider starting a syndicate of their own to play lotto games,” she added.

“Purchasing lotto entries with friends, family or workmates as a syndicate allows you to share in the cost of a larger entry, giving you more chances to win!”

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1027 on 22 October 2013 were 7, 21, 15, 42, 24, 28 and 20 with the supplementary numbers 8 and 40. Oz Lotto will offer a $2 million division one prize in next Tuesday’s draw.

Players have another chance to share in a major prize this week with Powerball’s $30 million jackpot on Thursday night!
