Monday 21 October, 2013 - A Sunnybank woman who went to her local shops to ‘grab a few things’ on Sunday wasn’t expecting to grab an $800,000 Saturday Gold Lotto win while she was there!
The excited winner explained to Golden Casket that she discovered she’d won a share in first division when she decided to check her Saturday Gold Lotto entry on the spur-of-the-moment while at the newsagent yesterday.
“I quickly checked my numbers when I got to the newsagency and thought I’d won about $800,” the excited winner explained.
“It wasn’t until I went to the counter and gave the ticket to the outlet owner to check through the lottery terminal that I found out I’d actually won division one!
“The owner went and got me a chair so I could sit down.”
The shocked winner admitted the Saturday Gold Lotto windfall left her in a haze for the remainder of the day.
“I couldn’t find my tea bags and sugar yesterday. I eventually found them in the fridge!” she laughed.
The excited winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said it’s too early to say what she’ll do with her windfall but a holiday is on top of her list!
The woman purchased her winning 12-game entry in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3365 from Sunnybank Plaza News and Casket, Shop 22 in Sunnybank Plaza News and Casket, corner Mains Road and McCullough Street, Sunnybank.
Throughout Australia, there were five entries that won a first division share in Saturday Gold Lotto’s estimated $4 million division one prize pool, each worth $803,141.65. Along with the winning entry from Queensland, there were three winning ticket sold in Western Australia, and one in Victoria.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3365 on 19 October 2013 were 42, 5, 31, 27, 20 and 37 with the supplementary numbers 3 and 38.
