Darley filly Guelph  will be bidding for the fourth Group One success of her career when she lines up in the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on Wednesday. The daughter of Exceed And Excel won the final two legs of the Autumn triple crown as a juvenile in April and has come back in equally good form, winning her past two starts after being beaten a nose by Bound For Earth  on her reappearance at the start of September. Kerrin McEvoy’s mount has a career record of six wins from ten starts and scored a soft victory in the Group One Flight Stakes at Randwick last time out.

Gregers  won the Thousand Guineas Prelude at her most recent start and is the only other horse in the race besides Bound For Earth to have finished ahead of Guelph in the past. David Hayes’ filly was fourth behind Miracles Of Life in the Blue Diamond Stakes at this track in February, when Guelph was only fourth. May’s Dream  – the daughter of 2003 Melbourne Cup runner-up She’s Archie – is one of two other last start winners in the field, with Se Sauver  having taken out the Group Two Edward Manifold Stakes at Flemington at the start of the month. Godiva Rock , Gypsy Diamond  and Miracle To Me  appear to be outclassed in this company, while Wordplay  completes the field for Sydney handler Anthony Cummings.
