Wednesday 30 January, 2013 - A man who purchased his Oz Lotto entry in St Kilda has claimed a $22.8 million division one prize following last night’s draw!
The man said he has only been buying lotto entries for a short time and won the prize with numbers he chose himself.
“Thank you, thank you! This is definitely not a dream?” he asked when speaking with a Tatts official today.
“I’ve only been playing Oz Lotto for around six months, and randomly chose these winning numbers myself.
“The first thing I’ll do is buy a house with this prize money. I’ll celebrate with a trip overseas and give some money to my family as well,” the winner said.
“I won’t give up my job now but would love to use this money down the track to set up my own business in the construction industry.”
The winning 18-game marked entry won the man a prize worth $.62 and was purchased from Esplanade Newsagency, 115 Fitzroy Street in St Kilda.
Tatts spokesperson Zoe Knobel said the winner was in shock when he heard how much he had won.
“The winner told me that although he knew he had all seven winning numbers on his ticket, he didn’t realise that meant he had won a major division one prize!” Ms Knobel said.
“It was wonderful to be able to break the news to him today that his life will be changed forever now that he’s a multi-millionaire with more than $22 million in the bank.”
The winner has chosen to remain anonymous.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 989 on Tuesday 29 January were 39, 36, 6, 22, 38, 19 and 34. Supplementary numbers were 40 and 17. Oz Lotto will offer a $2 million division one prize in next week’s draw.
There are still more chances to win big in the coming weeks. TattsLotto’s $20 million Superdraw is coming up on Saturday 9 February, so purchase an entry for your chance to join the Tatts millionaires club!
