Sub-continental neighbours India  and Pakistan  meet in the second match of today’s World Twenty20 double header in Colombo, with more than survival in the tournament at stake. The two sides are the fiercest of rivals and the result of any clash between the pair is of great importance to the two cricket mad nations. Both have a good record in the World Twenty20, with India lifting the trophy – after defeating Pakistan in the Final – in the inaugural running of the event in 2007, while Pakistan won the event two years later.

Interestingly, India’s win over Pakistan in the 2007 Final was the most recent meeting between the sides in a 20 over match and came just ten days after a thrilling tie between the teams in the group stages.

Australia  and South Africa  meet in the first match of the day as they continue their respective campaigns seeking a maiden World Twenty20 title. The two sides have played out some thrilling contests in recent years and have split the eight Twenty20 Internationals that they have done battle in, with four wins a piece. Last year’s two match series ended 1-1, with South Africa levelling the series with a thrilling three wicket win in the second match. JP Duminy and Cameron White topped the run scoring lists for their respective sides, while Pat Cummins was the star with the ball.
