New mum picks up more than $1.5 million prize in Saturday Lotto's $22 million Superdraw

Thursday 27 September 2012 - The search for Wetherill Park’s mystery Lotto winner came to an end yesterday when a new mum from western Sydney visited NSW Lotteries to claim her prize. She won a $1,571,428.58 share in Saturday Lotto’s $22 million Superdraw last weekend.

The young woman was unaware of the extent of her windfall until she visited NSW Lotteries head office yesterday afternoon.

“I usually buy tickets in the big Lotto draws, when I checked this ticket I thought I only had five winning numbers, it wasn’t until I came to NSW Lotteries head office to claim my prize that I found out I’d won a division one share. It’s a big shock,” the winner, in her early thirties, said.

“I bought this ticket with my mum so she will get some of the winnings too.

“My husband and I have been house hunting recently, so this money will help us purchase something. Being on maternity leave and having a windfall like this is an absolute Godsend,” the young mum explained.

“My husband doesn’t know what’s happening, I’m going to wait until I get home to share the news. He is going to be ecstatic. It hasn’t quite hit me yet, it feels like I’m in a dream,” the winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, added.

Wetherill Park’s $1.5 million winning ticket was sold from NewsXpress Wetherill Park, Stockland Town Centre, Polding Street, Wetherill Park.

Fourteen winners shared Saturday Lotto’s $22 million division one prize pool. Four of the winning tickets were sold in Victoria, three each in NSW and Western Australia, two in Queensland and one each in South Australia and Tasmania.

In NSW, along with the Wetherill Park win, a Tweed Heads couple and a 15-share winning syndicate in Avoca also enjoyed division one wins.

The winning numbers from Saturday Lotto’s $22 million Superdraw, draw 3253, were 1, 19, 45, 34, 17 and 32 with the supplementary numbers 38 and 22.
