It’s hard to get a read on Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles . They’ve beaten a quality outfit like Baltimore, squeezed past winless Cleveland, and were flogged 27-6 by Arizona last weekend.
The Giants on the other hand appear to be hitting their straps after account for Carolina 36-7 in a Thursday Night Football match-up. New York’s defence managed to keep Panthers quarterback Cam Newton quiet, and they’ll need to reproduce that effort against the similarly athletic Vick on Monday (AEST).
The Eagles have the option of getting Pro-Bowl running back LeSean McCoy more involved. He ran just 13 times against the Cardinals for 70 yards, as Vick tried to work upfield through the air. In three games this season Vick has turned the ball over nine times through six interceptions and three fumbles, numbers he won’t be able to repeat if the Philly is to have any chance against the Giants.
Eli Manning has a superb record against the Eagles, and he comes in to the game in form after completing 27 of 35 passes last week for 288 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers. With Hakeem Nicks absent, Ramses Barden picked up the slack racking up nine receptions.
The scoreboard attendants could get a workout in this match-up. New York has averaged 38.5 points per game in its last two games, while Philadelphia has given up 25 ppg over that period, which means there’s a fair chance of the total score going over 47.5 .
