Monday 24 September 2012 - A Tweed Heads couple had a nervous wait for a phone call from a NSW Lotteries official this morning to confirm their $1,571,428.58 division one win in Saturday Lotto’s $22 million Superdraw.
The great-grandparents became aware of their win on Sunday but it was not until this morning that they found out how much they had won.
“We found out yesterday that we had won something big but we didn’t know exactly how much until just now,” the woman exclaimed.
“Our hearts are racing, we are very very pleased. It’s a struggle just to stand up after this news,” the winner added.
The winning couple purchased their 50 game QuickPick from Twin Towns Services Club at 1 Wharf Street, Tweed Heads, where they say they always buy their Lotto tickets.
The generous couple are in no doubt that they will use the money to help their three children.
“We don’t know what we’ll do for ourselves right now, we are very happy with our life so we are just delighted that we will be able to share this win with our three children,” the winners explained.
Fourteen winners shared Saturday Lotto’s $22 million division one prize pool. Four of the winning tickets were sold in Victoria, three each in NSW and Western Australia, two in Queensland and one each in South Australia and Tasmania.
In NSW, along with the Tweed Heads couple a 15-share winning syndicate sold in Avoca Beach and a mystery winner from Wetherill Park also enjoyed a division one wins.
The winning numbers from Saturday Lotto’s $22 million Superdraw, draw 3253, were 1, 19, 45, 34, 17 and 32 with the supplementary numbers 38 and 22.
NSW Lotteries Communications Executive Una O’Neill said there could be more big winners this week, with large jackpots up for grabs in Oz Lotto and Powerball.
“This week Oz Lotto is offering $13 million, while the Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed to $30 million! Purchase your entry today for your chance to become the newest member of the NSW Lotteries millionaires club.”
