Feature Race Preview September 15

Golden Rose (SR6) **TattsBet $166,172 First Four Jackpot** - Boom filly Nechita takes a huge step up in class for this race, having won both of her previous starts in easier company with relative ease. Her reappearance win in the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes was very good but she meets much stiffer competition here and doesn’t represent any value at a short price. Kabayan has group one form through a narrow defeat to Sizzling in the TJ Smith and looks the main danger. He was trapped wide first up at Caulfield but stuck on well for second and looks primed for a big run. That face that stable jockey Kerrin McEvoy has elected to ride Albrecht ahead of highly regarded colt Epaulette could be a good pointer to his chances. He was a good winner last time out and has been set for this race. Your Song beat several of these home when finishing second to Pierro in the Run To The Roses last time out and should improve further with the addition of blinkers for the first time.
Selections: Kabayan, Albrecht, Nechita, Your Song

Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes (MR6) – Rekindled Interest is seen to best effect at Moonee Valley and could well win this event for a second time on Saturday. His win in this race twelve months ago was very good and he backed it up with an unlucky third placing at the track in the Cox Plate. While the five year old didn’t flatter in the Memsie Stakes at his last run, he did enough to suggest that he will be competitive in this contest. Green Moon did produce an eye catching run in the Memsie, weaving through the field late to charge into fifth. That run showed that he is on course for the big races this spring and he will clearly be better for the step up in trip to a mile here. Happy Trails also came through the Memsie Stakes, with his second behind Sincero are career best effort. Although he is drawn awkwardly in barrier ten, it would be foolish to dismiss him as a winning chance. Peter Moody’s import Sneak A Peek ran well on his Australian debut and is another that could surprise.
Selections: Rekindled Interest, Happy Trails, Green Moon, Sneak A Peek

Stocks Stakes (MR7) – Some classy mares line up in this event, with Spirit Song the highest rated of them. After lumping 58.5kg in a handicap on her reappearance, the Aaron Purcell trained galloper will find this Weight For Age contest much easier. She has failed to win only once from three attempts at the track and has a great record over this distance (6 starts for 4 wins and 2 minor placings). Midnight Martini has a great second up record and will improve on her reappearance, where she finished sixth, while Chateau Margaux is another that looks well placed. Bliss Street usually takes some time to find her best form and could be primed to run a big race at her third start this campaign with the blinkers on for the first time.
Selections: Spirit Song, Bliss Street, Midnight Martini, Chateau Margaux
