Friday 14 September, 2012 - A Chermside couple have their heads in the clouds after discovering they won $1 million in Wednesday Gold Lotto this week!
The couple in their 60s told Golden Casket they’re over the moon at becoming instant millionaires.
“Just last week I saw a shooting star with a long trail of light behind it and my partner said I should make a wish,” the winning man said.
“I wished that we would win Gold Lotto, and look where we are now!”
The winning couple have been playing the same numbers in Wednesday Gold Lotto for 20 years, yet they never let themselves believe they’d win.
“It’s always been our dream to own our own home. As a man I’ve always had that desire to provide a house for my partner and I to share,” the winning man said.
“It feels good to know we’ll have that now. The only demand she has is that we have a pool out the back!”
The winning man said the prize money comes at an opportune time.
“I’m getting closer to retirement age so, with this money, I’m thinking about stepping back early,” he said.
The winning ticket was purchased from Nextra Aspley Village, Shop 4 in the Aspley Village Shopping Centre, 605 Robinson Road, Aspley.
The winning couple said they were loyal customers of Nextra Aspley Village and were excited for owners Dan and Maureen Beutel after the win.
“We always buy our Gold Lotto entries at Nextra Aspley Village – owners Dan and Maureen are top people.
They’re so genuine and friendly, they always have big smiles on their faces,” the winners both said.
“Dan said their 10 year anniversary of owning the store is next week and it’s the first division one win they’ve sold so they’re happy we could tell them it was to us!”
The winning numbers in Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3250 on Wednesday 12 September, 2012 were 18, 28, 43, 41, 38 and 44 with supplementaries 7 and 10.
There were two first division winners in the draw who each claimed $1 million, with one entry purchased in Newmarket and the other in Aspley. There were also three division two winners who took home $10,446.70 each.
