Cardiff's $1 million Wednesday Lotto winner plans to spend more time with family

Thursday 13 September, 2012 - A Cardiff Lotto player is recovering from the shock of finding out she is a millionaire thanks to Wednesday Lotto.

The local mum-of-two, who found out about her windfall on her weekly Thursday morning trip to Cardiff Newsagency to purchase and check her Lotto tickets, said that her first reaction to the news was a very emotional one.

“I burst into tears when I found out I had won $1 million. I think everyone dreams of what it would be like to win Lotto and I’m no different, but my first reaction was one of complete shock,” the winner told a NSW Lotteries official.

“It’s a bit too soon to think about what I will do with the money. I will more than likely invest it. I would like to cut back on work and spend more time with my family.

“My husband didn’t believe me when I phoned him with the news. I’m surprised he could understand me I was crying so much,” the winner said, laughing at her reaction to winning the Wednesday Lotto $1 million division one prize pool.

The winning ticket, a six game entry that cost just $3.30, was purchased from Cardiff Newsagency at 36 Macquarie Road, Cardiff.

Michelle Bristo from Cardiff Newsagency said that it is wonderful to see another win come to town.

“I’ve been working here for 20 years and have seen a few winners in my time; it was such a thrill to get to tell one of our regular customers that she is a $1 million winner this morning. I really am delighted for her,” Ms Bristo.

The winning numbers in Wednesday Lotto, draw 3173, were 29, 44, 33, 22, 41 and 37 with the supplementary numbers 45 and 15.
