Monday 10 September, 2012 - The Sunshine Coast is proving to be a lotto hotspot after a Saturday Gold Lotto ticket purchased in Noosa Heads won its owners more than $850,000 in Saturday night’s draw.
This win brings the total amount of division one prize money won on the Sunshine Coast to $17 million in the past three and a half weeks!
A retired couple from the Sunshine Coast area are reeling today after they claimed $862,335.31 in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3249, their share of the guaranteed $4 million division one prize pool.
The winners said they have been playing Saturday Gold Lotto with special birthday numbers since the game began around 30 years ago, and are thrilled to have won “the big one”.
“This comes as a welcome relief,” the winning woman beamed.
“Our superannuation isn’t looking too good after the global financial crisis; it just started disappearing left, right and centre,” her husband added.
“This prize comes at a perfect time in our retirement.”
The winners said they’d like to travel to a few destinations around Australia with the prize money, but don’t plan on moving.
“Oh good heavens no!” the winning woman exclaimed.
“We live in paradise here on the Sunshine Coast.”
The winning entry was purchased from Noosa Junction Newsagency at 26 Sunshine Beach Road, Noosa Heads, making it the third division one win for the Noosa area in three weeks.
On 18 August, Noosa Village News in Noosaville sold a Saturday Gold Lotto ticket worth $2.17 million, and 10 days later newsXpress Noosa Civic sold the entry that won the $13 million Oz Lotto jackpot prize.
Earlier, on 15 August, a Wednesday Gold Lotto ticket worth $1 million was purchased from newsXpress Nambour Plaza, rounding out the total wins for the Sunshine Coast to $17 million in under one month!
Throughout Australia there were five winners who shared in last Saturday’s guaranteed $4 million division one prize pool. There were three winners in Queensland, one in Victoria and one in Western Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3249 on 8 September 2012 were 4, 5, 15, 35, 7 and 38 with the supplementary numbers 30 and 1.
