NMW Handicap (BR5) – Venture On easily has the best form in this race, having run second in the Daybreak Lover at during the Brisbane Winter Carnival. While his past two runs have been good, he will appreciate returning to a firmer racing surface to make full use of his strong finishing burst. Iking has run well at his past two starts and looks as though he will appreciate the step up to a mile, while Collector has similar form lines. Rhetoric hasn’t been seen since running in the Murwillumbah Cup over 200m at the end of June but has been given a trial in preparation for this and should run well.
Selections: Venture On, Rhetoric, Iking, Collector

1MW Handicap (BR6) – The Reveller showed some promise as a city class galloper during his last campaign and will run well at his first appearance since March. He is drawn ideally in barrier three and loves racing at Doomben (7 starts for 3 wins and 2 minor placings). Too Many Reds has his first start for Group One winning trainer Tony Gollan here and will go close despite having to carry top weight. That is offset by the fact that he is drawn on the fence, has a very good first up record and excels over this trip. Liesele has been racing consistently well and is sure to be in the mix, while Trail Boss and Devils Melody are others to consider.
Selections: The Reveller, Too Many Reds, Trail Boss, Liesele

Open Handicap (BR7) – The Sixties may have beaten several of these rivals a fortnight ago, but they meet him much better off at the weights this time around as a consequence. Skating On Ice was weld held at Eagle Farm two weeks ago but a 2kg swing in the weights and return to a firmer track will see her in with a great chance of reversing that form. Another galloper that will be seen to much better effect this time around is Shekinaar. Her last run on a heavy track here can be excused as she has never run well on it. The start prior to that she raced in the Group One Sangster Stakes at Morphettville against Black Caviar. Power O’Raylee is interesting for leading Victorian trainer Peter Moody.
Selections: Skating On Ice, Power O’Raylee, The Sixties, Shekinaar

Class 6 Plate (BR8) – Under the set weights conditions of this race, Startsmeup looks very hard to beat here. He is well in at the weights and you would imagine that being drawn in barrier 15 is the only thing that can beat him. Danagaze has claims based on his strong first up record and record over both this course and distance, while Dr Ichi is sure to be running on well. War Charm and Somnambulist have both shown promise and are capable of getting into the finish.
Selections: Startsmeup, Danagaze, War Charm, Dr Ichi
