Tasmanian Daniel Geale  faces the toughest test of his career when he faces World Boxing Association (WBA) Middleweight champion Felix Sturm  in Germany on the weekend. The German is unbeaten in the past six years and has lost just one of his 37 fights in his homeland. Having won the WBA title against Javier Castillejo in 2007, Sturm has successfully defended the belt on twelve occasions, with his last bout against Sebastian Zbik in April the 37th win of his 41 fight career. Sturm is renowned as a great tactician in the ring with a knack of outpointing his rivals and nine of his past fourteen wins have been by points decision .

International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion Geale won the middleweight title with a contentious win by split decision over Sebastian Sylvester in Germany last year. The 31 year-old has twice been challenged in the past twelve months and won both fights by unanimous decision. Fifteen of Geale’s 27 victories have come by knockout , while Anthony Mundine is the only man to have beaten him, having been awarded a split decision in 2009.
