Monday Night NRL

An inconsistent Melbourne Storm side host the circling Sharks in a mouth-watering clash on Monday night. After losing six straight games the Storm have reignited their 2012 campaign recording three consecutive wins to sit in outright second on the premiership ladder well placed for finals footy. Cronulla’s premiership credentials received a massive boost with last weekend’s dominant 20-7 win over the Rabbitohs. Sharks coach Shane Flanagan welcomes back veteran prop Ben Ross into his starting side who returns from a hand injury.

History – Minus skipper Paul Gallen, Cronulla recorded an emphatic 12-10 victory in round twelve over the Storm at Shark Park. Gallen’s presence will be needed to contain a rampaging Storm side with their eyes set firmly on a grand final berth. Before round twelves loss, the Storm recorded five consecutive wins against the Sharks. The Sharks haven’t won in Melbourne since round two, 2008.

Dangermen – Storm centre Will Chambers first year back in rugby league couldn’t have been better. Despite nursing several injuries throughout the year Chambers has been one of the Storm’s most consistent players scoring eleven tries from fourteen appearances. Rookie Sharks centre Ricky Leutele has burst on to the NRL scene this season already crossing for three tries from five first grade games.

Prediction – Cronulla’s poor record in Melbourne cannot be looked past, the Storm are fearless at home and will be too classy for a spirited Sharks side. Storm 1-12 .
