Following a disappointing defeat to the Lions in Brisbane last week, Adelaide will be determined to return to winning ways when it tackles the lowly Melbourne Demons at the MCG on Sunday. While hopes of winning the minor premiership appear to have faded, they remain in contention for a top two finish that will give them a home game in the first week of the finals.
Despite having nothing to play for in terms of being involved in finals action, veteran Brad Green will be playing the final game of his career on Sunday and his teammates will be determined to send him out a winner. The 253 game veteran has been a tremendous servant to the club and will be looking to add to his tally of 348 career goals.
Where It Will be Won
– This game is all about the attitude that Adelaide takes into it. They may have been a bit complacent against Brisbane last weekend, thinking that they simply had to turn up at the Gabba to collect the four points. They lacked intensity and were outpointed in the contested possessions and tackle counts, two areas in which they usually excel. If they turn up with their usual swagger on Sunday, it could be a long afternoon for the Demons.
– Adelaide has won just one of its past eighteen matches in Victoria but that success did come this season, when it defeated Carlton by 69 points at Etihad Stadium. Last week’s performance aside, the Crows are a much improved side in 2012 and should have too much firepower for Melbourne however, with the side desperate to ensure they finish as high on the ladder as possible.
