Warwick Farm Racing Preview 25th August

Warwick Stakes (SR6) **TattsBet $300,000 First Four Jackpot** - This race sees the reappearance of several top class horses including Secret Admire, who is well in under the Weight For Age conditions of this contest. Despite having failed to win first up in the past, her runs fresh from a spell have been good in the past and she should be fit enough to go well having had two recent trials. The pace of the race may be against her however, with no obvious leader in the field. Bold Glance and Startsmeup could go forward and have race fitness on their sides having won in Brisbane recently, but this is a big step up in class from what they have been running in. Pinwheel was a good winner over 1200m here a fortnight ago and obviously commands respect, but Rock ‘N’ Pop could be the knockout runner. The former Kiwi galloper won the NZ Guineas last year before running second in the Derby and has won both trials for new trainer Gai Waterhouse. Lamasery and Lights Of Heaven want further but will be flying at the finish.
Selections: Rock ‘N’ Pop, Pinwheel, Secret Admirer, Bold Glance

Silver Shadow Stakes (SR7) – Patinack filly Nechita is one of the ‘boom’ horses going into the spring, with the daughter of Fastnet Rock having a huge reputation. Her only racetrack appearance saw her sent out an odds-on favourite and she didn’t let her backers down, romping to a 3.5 length win at this course in June. She has trialled well and meets several of her rivals here well in at the weights. Ichihara could be her biggest danger. She has won three of her four career starts, has trialled well and will get a good run from the inside gate. Gerard Ryan has a strong hand with Flying Snitzel and Cavalry Rose, while Jade Marauder looks the most likely to capitalise if they go to fast in front.
Selections: Nechita, Cavalry Rose, Ichihara, Jade Marauder

Toy Show Quality (SR8) – Steps In Time looks hard be beat in this contest, having proven herself a top class mare during the Autumn. Despite having to jump from a wide gate, she should be able to cross from a wide gate and be hard to run down. Embark and Capital Commander met here two weeks ago and were well beaten, but should go a lot better in this contest. They drop 6kg and 3kg respectively and can be in the finish. Miss Stellabelle has always showed potential and could improve on her previous efforts under the tutelage of Gai Waterhouse.
Selections: Steps In Time, Embark, Miss Stellabelle, Capital Commander
