Manly regains the services of skipper Jason King and Kiwi international Steve Matai for their round 24 clash against the Knights on Sunday afternoon. The Sea Eagles have signalled their intentions in recent weeks winning their past three games which included solid wins over top four hopefuls North QLD and South Sydney. Despite stumbling to the top of the table bulldogs two weeks ago the Knights are running hot winning four of their past five games to sit them in equal ninth position well in strike range of their first finals berth since 2009.
History – Newcastle sent shockwaves through the competition when they recorded a huge 32-6 win over Manly in round 19 however things shouldn’t come as easy on enemy territory as it’s been six years since the Knights lasted tasted victory on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Manly’s Brookvale fortress hasn’t been as happy a place for the Sea Eagles in recent games conceding 70 points in their last three outings.
Dangermen – Sea Eagles winger David Williams has been on fire since returning from injury. Wolfman has scored 27 tries from 24 games at Brookvale will be a handful for the Knights left hand defence. Knights flyer Akuila Uate has scored eleven tries in seven games since being axed from the NSW state of origin team and is a worth inclusion for any first try scorer bets.
Prediction – Manly are beginning to flex their muscles heading towards the finals and should be too strong for a desperate Knights side. Manly 1-12 .
