Monday 13 August, 2012 - A number of Northern Territory Tatts outlets are celebrating today after helping to create three brand-new millionaires in a single week!
Both Leanyer Newsagency and Katherine Exposure Photographics each had a first division winner in Saturday TattsLotto’s $20 million Superdraw over the weekend, just days after Berrimah Post News & Tatts made a Darwin man $1 million richer in Monday & Wednesday Lotto!
In an interesting twist, the same staff member is connected to each of the TattsLotto wins worth just over $1 million sold from both the Leanyer and Katherine outlets.
Katherine Exposure Photographics was handed over to new owners this morning, after Vince and Jill Fardone sold the store after 30 years to the Smale family.
“It’s great to go out on a big high by selling a division one to a local, and it’s a great boost for the new owners. It had been a while since a division one win for us so we’re happy to see it’s happened at this point,” said Mr Fardone.
The new operators Kathy and Les Smale and their daughter Megan are over the moon that their outlet sold a Superdraw winner.
“We couldn’t have planned it better, it’s really great promotion for us,” said Mrs Smale.
“We’re quite a unique outlet as we run the Tatts business in conjunction with the photography business, as opposed to pairing it with a newsagency or a pharmacy.”
Kathy and Megan had in fact been undertaking Tatts training at the Leanyer Newsagency last week when the winning ticket was sold.
Leanyer Newsagency owner Robyn Wright said it’s quite a coincidence the pair were in her outlet at the time.
“Either of them potentially sold the winning ticket here, then they took over the other outlet which sold one in the NT – it seems fairly lucky to me! It’s a real boost for everyone in the Territory to have made three new millionaires in just a week!” Mrs Wright said.
The unregistered winner from Leanyer Newsagency, Shop 18 in Hibiscus Shoppingtown has yet to come forward to claim their prize of $1,052,631.58.
The winner from Katherine Exposure Photographics, Shop 4 in Southgate Shopping Centre has claimed their prize of $1,082,039.68 and has requested to remain anonymous.
Throughout Australia 19 winners shared the $20 million division one prize pool in Saturday TattsLotto’s Superdraw.
Along with the two Northern Territory winners, six winning tickets were sold from Tatts, the Victorian based lottery operator, four of the winning tickets were sold in NSW, three in Queensland and Western Australia and one in South Australia.
The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 3241 were 38, 31, 32, 21, 22 and 27 with the supplementary numbers 10 and 16. There were also 131 division two winners who took home $10,731.15 each.
