Adelaide will be looking to stay in the hunt for a top four spot when they face Port in Showdown XXXIII at AAMI Park on Saturday night. Sitting in fifth spot on the ladder, the Crows seem certain to be playing finals football in September and are desperate to work their way into a coveted top four spot. Key forward Taylor Walker is out after copping a three week ban for a dangerous tackle, while Jared Petrenko and Ian Callinan have been ruled out through injury.
Port Adelaide has won just four of their thirteen fixtures this season and is out of finals contention but still has plenty to play for. There is always something at stake when these bitter rivals meet and after losing Showdown XXXIII earlier in the season, Power will be determined to regain some pride with a strong performance. Star midfielder Travis Boak returns for Port, but they are still without several other important players.
Where It Will be Won
– Adelaide’s midfield has been one of the best in the competition this season, with skipper Scott Thompson being ably supported by emerging superstar Patrick Dangerfield . Port would struggle to contain them at the best of times, so with several of their most influential players still out, Travis Boak and Kane Cornes will have their hands full trying to match their opponents at the stoppages.
– While history has thrown up some wild results in Showdown matches it is hard to see anything other than a Crows win here. Port is besieged by injuries and the Adelaide is going to good. Adelaide 1-39
