Ipswich couple will finally own a home after their $1 million win!

Friday 6 July, 2012 - An Ipswich couple will finally buy a home of their own after winning just over $1 million in The Pools!

The winning man is a regular Golden Casket Lotto player, but never thought he’d win a first division prize of this size from The Pools, where numbers are drawn based on the results of soccer matches.

“To be honest I don’t even follow soccer, I just thought I’d buy an extra QuickPick as the prize had jackpotted so much recently,” he said.

“Tell you what, I’m glad I did!”

The jackpot for The Pools draw 1405 on 30 June had reached a record-breaking $2.192 million, the highest division one prize pool offered in the game’s 23-year history.

The man said he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the winning numbers.

“I had to call my wife into the room to read over them for me, then we rang our daughter up and asked her to check on the internet, too, in case we were wrong.

“Sure enough, that’s what the numbers were!

“I’ve never won anything in my life so to win a first prize like this feels really good, it’s actually a relief to have finally won after playing for over 20 years,” said the winning man.

“We’ve been waiting a long time for this and dreaming about today.

“Our first priority now is buying a home then we’ll think about how to invest the rest.”The man purchased his winning entry from Winston Glades News, Shop 9 in Winston Glades Shopping Centre, Flinders View.

The Ipswich couple were one of two winners from the draw who claimed a division one prize of $1,096,292.72, with the other in South Australia. The winning numbers in The Pools draw 1405 were 7, 16, 24, 28, 37 and 38. The supplementary number was 1.
