Uni student wins $1.25 million with first ever TattsLotto ticket!

Wednesday 4 July, 2012 - A university student who purchased a ticket in Saturday’s TattsLotto $30 million Mid-Year Megadraw discovered yesterday that she is one of the country’s newest millionaires!

The woman in her twenties was overwhelmed when she realised the QuickPick entry she purchased from Wanda Street Lotto in Mulgrave won her a first division prize of $1.25 million!

“It’s such a random story, it was the first TattsLotto ticket I’ve ever bought!” she exclaimed.

“I’d popped into the newsagency to buy a birthday card and the lady in front of me at the counter bought a ticket in the big $30 million draw so I thought, ‘What the hell, I’ll buy a QuickPick too’.

“The person who was served after me must be pretty angry…” she quipped.

The student said she never expected to carry the title of ‘millionaire’ in her lifetime.

“I’ve said to my friends before that I didn’t ever see myself owning my own home, but now I’ll be able to do that,” she said.

“I’ll invest the money carefully and not rush into anything."

“I need to buy a new car, but it won’t be a stupid little sports car, it will be something practical.”

The news is still sinking in for the young winner, but she’s had a great experience so far.

“I had a little party with my friends and family last night to celebrate, they’re all really happy for me.”

The winning entry was purchased from Wanda Street Lotto in Mulgrave.

As the winning ticket was not registered to a Tatts Card holder, Tatts had no way of contacting the winner after the draw to tell them the good news.

Throughout Australia 24 winners shared the $30 million division one prize pool in Saturday’s TattsLotto Mid-year Megadraw. Nine winning tickets were sold in Victoria, six in New South Wales, four in South Australia, three in Queensland and two in Western Australia.

The winning numbers in Saturday TattsLotto draw 3229 were 40, 37, 30, 33, 32 and 8 with the supplementary numbers 14 and 34. There were also 227 division two winners who took home $8,548.70 each.
