Bronte Barratt is Australia’s best chance of claiming a gold medal on day four in London, after earning a place in the Women’s 200m freestyle with the fastest qualifying time. The 23 year-old, who was part of the 4 x200m freestyle team that claimed relay gold in Beijing is one of two Brisbane based athletes set to contest the event with Kylie Palmer sneaking into the field.
Alicia Coutts goes into the Women’s 200m individual medley relay with the second quickest time, while defending Olympic champion Stephanie Rice will also take her place in the field. In the final event of the night at the Aquatics Centre, Australia’s Men’s 4 x200m freestyle relay team will be bidding to better their fourth place finish in the event at last year’s World Championships.
Lourdy Wiggins and Rachel Bugg will be out to end China’s dominance in the Women’s Synchronised 10m platform diving final earlier in the afternoon, while Kynan Maley goes for gold in the Men’s C1 canoe slalom.
