Sydney man claims $1.25 million prize sold in Broadway

Tuesday 3 July, 2012 - The owner of an unregistered $1.25 million winning ticket, purchased in Broadway, came forward to claim his prize from NSW Lotteries on Monday afternoon.

The winner scored a $1.25 million share of Saturday Lotto’s $30 million mid-year Megadraw division one prize pool.

The Sydney inner-city man said that when he checked his Lotto numbers on Sunday morning he was in disbelief.

“I checked my ticket early on Sunday morning and was in disbelief,” the winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.

Although he is now a millionaire, the winner said he will not change.

“I will still stay the same person, but life will be more comfortable. I can life the live I want to now."

“It really hasn’t sunk in yet, this will take some time to process,” the winner added.

The occasional Lotto player won $1.25 million with a 50 game Maxi QuickPick which cost him just $32.80.

The winning ticket was purchased from Broadway Newsagency at Broadway Shopping Centre, Broadway.

Of the 24 winning tickets that shared Saturday Lotto’s $30 million mid-year Megadraw division one prize pool, six of the winning tickets were sold in NSW. One of the NSW winning tickets was registered and five unregistered.

The registered winning ticket was purchased in Sydney’s CBD and the unregistered winning tickets were sold in Tumut, Neutral Bay, Rhodes, Hammondville and Broadway.

The owners of the unregistered winning tickets sold in Broadway, Neutral Bay and Rhodes have claimed their prize, but the unregistered winners from Tumut and Hammondville remain a mystery.

Along with the six winning NSW tickets, nine winning tickets were sold in Victoria, four in South Australia, three in Queensland and two in Western Australia.

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto, draw 3229, were 40, 37, 30, 33, 32 and 8 with the supplementary numbers 14 and 34.
