Friday the 13th was good omen for couple who won over $120,000!

Friday 27 July, 2012 - A couple from Yarraville has finally claimed their prize of more than $120,000 from The Pools draw 1407 almost two weeks ago on July 14!

After having their ticket checked last Sunday, the unregistered players said they took some time this week to plan what they’ll be able to achieve with the windfall before they came forward.

“We don’t buy entries in The Pools regularly,” one of the winners said of the draw based on the results of Australian soccer matches.

“We don’t even follow soccer!”

The couple said the winning QuickPick ticket was purchased on a day that was traditionally recognised as bearing bad luck.

“We only buy tickets on Friday the 13th, so this year we bought one on April 13th and won about $160, then bought one on July 13th and we won $120,000!”

He and his partner in their late-thirties will spend the prize money to do the things so many Australians dream of.

“The majority of the money will go straight towards a house deposit,” he said.

“Then we’ll pay off credit card debts, settle the car loan and take some time off for a holiday.

“He and I have already started a wish list of places we’d like to visit.”

The couple purchased the winning entry from Q.V. Newsagency and Lotto, Shop 57-59 QV2, corner of Lonsdale and Swanston Streets, Melbourne.

The winning numbers in The Pools draw 1407 were 5, 7, 21, 22, 32 and 35. The supplementary number was 30.
