It’s rivalry round in the NRL and there is plenty of the latter between the Roosters and Rabbitohs . The Roosters have been abysmal this season losing five of their past seven games to sit well outside the top eight in twelfth position. The Roosters discipline has been their biggest downfall resulting in the third worst point’s difference in the competition behind last place Parramatta and second last Penrith. The Bunnies are a different story and are will poised to claim a top four berth after stringing together back-to-back wins against the Panthers and Knights. Souths coach Michael McGuire has retained the starting thirteen that crushed Newcastle last weekend.
History – These two teams have met an astonishing 204 times, the most of any clubs in the competition. Not much separates them over the decades however with the Rabbitohs boasting a slight upper hand recording 106 wins to the Roosters 93 while 5 have ended in a draw. The Roosters snatched a last minute victory in the round one clash between the two sides after Anthony Minichiello latched on to a Boyd Cordner kick to record an emphatic 24-20 win over their arch rivals.
Dangermen – Roosters veteran Anthony Minichello will be a marked man after his last minute heroics in round one, Minichello has been the Roosters best player this season crossing for six tries and leading the competition for most hit-ups/runs. Souths rookie Andrew Everingham has had a dream start to his NRL career crossing for eleven tries this season and has looked dangerous on the end of a slick Souths backline.
Prediction – The Rabbioths are on fire and the Roosters have been nothing short of ordinary, the Rabbitohs should easily despatch their bitter rivals to record a strong win. Rabbitohs 13+ .
