Sunday 1 July, 2012 - A Phillip Island Grandfather has started the new financial year as a millionaire after winning a share in TattsLotto’s $30 million Mid-Year Megadraw last night!
The Grandfather was incredulous at first when he answered the call from Tatts advising him he’d won a first division share worth $1,250,000.
“Are you joking?” he immediately questioned.
“You’d tell me if you were joking, wouldn’t you?
He didn’t have a chair handy but said he needed to steady himself as he took in the amazing news.
“Struth! I’m leaning on a wall now, how much did you say I’d won again?”
The regular TattsLotto player said he’ll need to take some time to decide how to best spend his TattsLotto windfall.
“Even though I’ve been playing TattsLotto since it started 40 years ago, I’ve got no idea what I’ll do with the money yet,” he said.
“It will certainly help us in our retirement, that’s for sure.”
As the news sunk in the winner said he felt more excited about what the future will bring thanks to such a significant sum.
“I won’t be able to keep the smile off my face all day!” he exclaimed.
The winning 24-game QuickPick ticket was purchased from Cowes Newsagency on Thompson Avenue in Cowes.
Throughout Australia 24 winners shared the $30 million division one prize pool in last night’s TattsLotto Mid-year Megadraw. Nine winning tickets were sold in Victoria, six in New South Wales, four in South Australia, three in Queensland and two in Western Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday TattsLotto draw 3229 were 40, 37, 30, 33, 32 and 8 with the supplementary numbers 14 and 34. There were also 227 division two winners who took home $8,548.70 each.
