Australian Sam Stosur will be bidding to reach her second French Open final in three years when she faces Italian Sara Errani in the semi-finals on Friday. The fifth seed has been imperious in the tournament so far, winning each of her opening five matches in straight sets , including an effortless 6-4 6-1 victory over Dominika Cibulkova in the quarter-finals.
Errani, who had never been past the quarter-final stage of a grand slam event prior to this tournament, beat tenth seed Angelique Kerber in her last match after already having dispatched of former champions Ana Ivanovic and Svetlanta Kuznetsova. Her record against Stosur is poor however, having lost all five previous meetings between the pair, including a 6-3 7-5 defeat on clay in Rome last month.
Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova faces three time grand slam winner and world number two Maria Sharapova in the other semi-final.
