Doveton family to buy a puppy and donate to charity with lotto win

Wednesday 6 June, 2012 - A Doveton family was stunned when they discovered they’d taken out a first division prize of $666,666.67in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3144 on Monday 4 June.

The owner of the unregistered ticket said she was over the moon last night when she checked the draw results online and discovered she was holding a winning ticket.

“I was shocked, but my husband was even worse!” she exclaimed.

“We could hardly sleep after we found out we’d won over half a million dollars!”

The family already have a few ideas for how to spend the windfall.

“My daughter has been asking for years that we buy her a dog so last night she said, ‘How much did you win, mum? The puppy will only cost $400, I think that’s fair!’ So we might have to finally cave in!” the winner told Tatts.

The winner and her family also have some philanthropic plans for a cause close to their hearts.

“We lost a family member to illness some time ago and I always said that if I win TattsLotto I’ll donate 10 per cent of the prize money to fund medical research,” the winning woman said.

“So I’m going to keep my word and donate 10 per cent to a special children’s charity.”

As for the rest of the prize money, the family is still coming to terms with what it will mean for their lives.

“We’ll wait until the money is in our account then work everything out.”

The winning ticket was purchased from Million Dollar Lotto, Shop D01 in Parkmore Shopping Centre, Keysborough.

This is the fourth first division win for the outlet in 24-months across TattsLotto and Monday & Wednesday Lotto draws, worth a combined total of over $2.3 million.

The Doveton family was one of three division one winners nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3144 on Monday 4 June, 2012. There was one winner in New South Wales and another in Western Australia.

The winning numbers were 4, 12, 2, 24, 17 and 35. The supplementary numbers were 5 and 36.
