St Kilda  and North Melbourne  meet at Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon with both sides determined to reinforce their claims for a place in the top eight. Both sides have won six of their twelve games in 2012 but the Saints occupy the last finals spot courtesy of a better percentage, while the Kangaroos, who scored a shock win over Adelaide last weekend, are in eleventh. St Kilda is coming off the bye, after suffering a four point defeat at the hands of the Crows a fortnight ago.

Where It Will be Won – The Kangaroos win last weekend was built on strong run through the middle of the ground courtesy of the good service that the likes of Liam Anthony  and Andrew Swallow  provided by winning the clearances and contested possessions. Although they again face a tough task in winning those areas of the game against Nick Dal Santo , Lenny Hayes  and co, they will go a long way to recording just their fourth win in fifteen matches against the Saints if they can dominate the stoppages.

Prediction – Since beating the Gold Coast and Western Bulldogs in rounds two and three of the season, St Kilda haven’t put together the same result in two consecutive matches in 2012. Having lost their most recent fixture against Adelaide, they should be due a win but it certainly won’t be as easy as that. North showed last week that when on song they are capable of matching the best sides and the confidence that they will have garnered from the way that they played will see them right in this contest. They can leapfrog the Saints on the table and move a step closer to playing finals football. North Melbourne 1-39
