Wednesday 27 June, 2012 - A Hobart family was shocked to discover today that they were the mystery Tasmanian winners Tatts had been looking for after Saturday’s TattsLotto draw!
The man in his 30s who purchased the ticket said he was only prompted to check the numbers on his entry after his wife saw a story about the missing winner on Monday’s evening news.
“Wicked!” he exclaimed when he heard he’d won a $707,703.63 share of the division one prize pool.
“At first I couldn’t believe it; my wife just saw on TV that someone in Tasmania had won over $700,000 in TattsLotto on Saturday,” he said.
“I said what anyone would say, of course it couldn’t be me!"
“It wasn’t until we checked the numbers online on Tuesday night that we realised we really were the mystery winners.”
The winner said he already has some big plans for the windfall.
“I’ll pay off the house, do some renos, buy a new car and go on a few nice holidays with the family.”
The regular TattsLotto player registers his weekly entries to his Tatts Card but hadn’t kept his contact details up-to-date for Tatts to call him with the good news.
Tatts Public Relations Executive, Zoe Knobel, said the winner’s story is a timely reminder to check that the details on your Tatts Card are still current before this weekend’s $30 million mid-year Megadraw.
“Registering all of your Tatts lottery purchases to your Tatts Card not only ensures you will be personally contacted with news of a big win, you also get the peace of mind that comes from knowing you will never miss out on a prize,” Ms Knobel said.
The winning QuickPick ticket was purchased from Derwent Park Newsagency at 255 Main Road in Derwent Park.
There were six division one winners nationally in TattsLotto draw 3227 on 23 June 2012, with one in Tasmania, three in Queensland and two in Victoria. The winning numbers were 29, 2, 31, 19, 30 and 16 with supplementary numbers 11 and 10. There were also 88 division two winners who took home $6,548.00 each.
