Jorge Lorenzo will be looking to maintain his Moto GP championship lead at the Catalunya Grand Prix on Sunday. The Spaniard has won two of the four races to have been contested this season, including the most recent event, the Grand Prix De France on May 20. The Yamaha rider also has fond memories of the circuit, having won here in 2010 and finished second behind reigning World champion Casey Stoner last year.
Having already won in Spain and Portugal this season, Stoner is Lorenzo’s closest pursuer in the championship. Stoner’s teammate Dani Pedrosa missed this race last year with a broken collarbone, but won around the Catalunya circuit in 2008 and is expected to contend this weekend. Ducati rider Valentino Rossi has won here on nine occasions and is another with a chance of sneaking onto the podium, while Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso will be looking to bounce back after crashing at Le Mans.
