Canberra man scores $825,551 in Saturday Lotto

Tuesday 19 June, 2012 - A Canberra man checked his Saturday Lotto QuickPick ticket on Monday afternoon unaware that he was a division one shareholder; to his surprise he won $825,551.00.

The winner, in his thirties, said that he will use the money to pay off debt and the will also invest for the future.

“That should pay off my HECS debt,” the winner laughed when he heard how much his Saturday Lotto win was worth.

The winner, although a regular Powerball and Oz Lotto player, said he only occasionally plays Saturday Lotto.

The Canberra man plans to invest his winnings and ensure he has enough to live comfortably; he hopes to buy a house and take an overseas holiday but will not change his lifestyle too much.

“I won’t buy anything too lavish, I’m not that kind of person,” the winner said.

Canberra’s lucky Saturday Lotto winner purchased his winning QuickPick ticket from Newsfront Newsagency at Westfield Shopping Town, 18 Benjamin Way, Belconnen.

Five winners shared Saturday Lotto’s $4 million division one prize, along with the winning ticket sold in the ACT one winning ticket was sold in Queensland, one in Victoria, one in Western Australia and one in South Australia.

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto, draw 3225, were 16, 35, 18, 36, 25 and 40. With the supplementary numbers 2 and 21.
