Monday 18 June, 2012 - A Brisbane man was in tears this morning after he answered the phone call from Golden Casket that he’d been dreaming of for 25 years telling him that he’d won a first division prize in Saturday Gold Lotto.
He was so shocked that not long after being told he’d won a first division share worth $841,442.90 he accidentally hung up the phone!
The man said he’d been hoping to receive the golden phone call for a very long time.
“I always drive past the Golden Casket building and I’ve been saying for years, I’m going to go in there one day.
“I’m a battler, and I’m really going to appreciate this money,” he said.
“It means I can reduce my work load before I retire and spend more time doing what I love.
“I’ve always dreamed of buying a boat, sailing out to a quiet spot and going fishing. Now that dream can come true.”
The father said he will share the money with family as well as a few causes close to his heart.
“I always give to charity whenever someone asks for it, so now I can give a little bit extra to those great groups like the Salvos, Red Cross and cancer research foundations.”
The winning entry was purchased from Moorvale News on Beaudesert Road in Moorooka.
There were five division one winners nationally in Saturday TattsLotto draw 3225 on 16 June 2012, with
one each in Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory.
The winning numbers were 16, 35, 18, 36, 25 and 40 with supplementary numbers 2 and 21. There were
also 52 division two winners who took home $10,745.00 each.
