Fresh from a bye, West Coast will be raring to go when they face Carlton at Patersons Stadium on Thursday night. Despite losing to the Brisbane Lions in their last match, the Eagles are firmly entrenched in the top four while Carlton dropped out of the eight with their fourth loss in five matches when going down to Geelong in round 11. They are set to be boosted for Thursday’s match by the return of Heath Scotland and Andrew Carrazzo however, while Robbie Warnock has also made the trip west despite being subbed out with a hip injury last week.
Luke Shuey will return for West Coast after serving a one match ban for striking but defender Beau Waters is suspended.
Where It Will be Won
– As is often the case when these sides meet, much has been spoken of Chris Judd coming up against his former club in this match. Judd won a Brownlow medal and a premiership at West Coast before returning to Victoria and will be a key figure in bringing about the downfall of his former teammates. He hasn’t been in the best form recently and was well held by Scott Selwood last time these teams met however. In the absence of Marc Murphy, he and Bryce Gibbs will need to be at their best to match the likes of Matt Priddis in the midfield.
– The last time that West Coast faced Carlton was in last season’s first semi-final where the Eagles scrapped home by three points in a thriller. Although they showed some promising signs last week against the reigning premiers, Carlton aren’t playing that well at the moment and the Eagles should be too good at home. West Coast 1-39
