‘Nice dad’ in Hoppers Crossing wins $1.3 million in TattsLotto!

Tuesday 12 June, 2012 - A Grandfather in Hoppers Crossing has won a division one prize of more than $1.3 million with a TattsLotto ticket given to him as a gift.

In addition to the division one amount, the 68-year-old man also won a slice of division six in Saturday’s draw, making the winner’s total prize worth $1,387,187.28.

The winner said he was gobsmacked when he discovered he’d won the prize on the weekend.

“I had a bit of a scream when I matched all six numbers,” he said.

“My daughter actually purchased the ticket for me just for being a nice dad.

“But when I told her I’d won, she didn’t believe me!”

The winner’s daughter purchased the 18-game QuickPick TattsLotto entry for $11.75 from Central News & Lotto in Werribee Plaza, Werribee. As the entry was not registered to a Tatts Card, Tatts was unable to contact the winner to share the good news.

“I knew I’d won on Sunday but waited until after the public holiday to present to Tatts,” the winner said. When asked what he thought he’d do with the money, the winner was very candid in his response.

“I’ve had 68 years to think about it,” he quipped.

“I’ll spend it. Quickly.”

The winner said he is more interested in helping his family than buying things for himself.

“I’ll be able to make a lot of other people happy with this money.”

The winner said he’s impressed with the win as he’s been playing lotto with Tatts since the top prize on offer was just £10,000. When told he would soon receive his $1.3 million cheque, the winner only had one question.

“It’s not going to bounce is it?” he laughed.

There were three division one winners nationally in Saturday TattsLotto draw 3223 on 9 June 2012, with one each in Victoria, the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

The winning numbers were 27, 26, 32, 16, 1 and 4 with supplementary numbers 31 and 40. There were also 58 division two winners who took home $9,747.30 each.
