Defending champion Spain goes into Euro 2012 as the team to beat after coming through their qualifying group with eight wins from as many matches. After breaking a long drought in major championships with their win at the 2008 European championships, Spain then followed up with a win at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and are rightfully the top ranked team in the world.
Germany also had a perfect record in the qualifiers and are expected to go a long way in the tournament with their young squad, although they have been drawn in the ‘group of death’ alongside World Cup runners-up Netherlands , Denmark and Portugal .
England goes into the event under new manager Roy Hodgson having topped Group G in qualifying, while traditional heavyweights France and Italy will also expect to perform well.
