The Crusaders and Reds meet in Christchurch on Sunday afternoon with the hosts look to stop a run of three successive defeats against the Queenslanders, including a 13-18 loss in the Super Rugby final at Suncorp Stadium last season. The Crusaders haven’t been beaten by the Reds in New Zealand since 1999 however and will be confident they won’t suffer defeat here either.
After making a relatively slow start to the season, the Crusaders have won five of their past six matches to show that they are still the dominant team in the competition. They are only going to get better as well, with World Cup winning captain Richie McCaw only returning from injury against the Waratahs last week. He will again start on the bench in an unchanged lineup, although winger Sean Maitland could return from an ankle injury.
The Reds 23-11 win over the Blues last weekend came at a cost, with Beau Robinson and Ben Daley ruled out of this weekend’s match with injuries incurred last weekend, but Wallaby centre Anthony Faingaa’s return is a big boost for him. His twin brother Saia also returns from injury as backup hooker on the bench.
