World number 33 Bernard Tomic continues his build up to next month’s French Open when he faces Italian Potito Starace in the 2nd round of the BMW Open in Munich tonight. The Australian is the fifth seed in Germany and opened the tournament with a straight sets win over Olivier Rochus on Monday.
Starace, ranked 77th in the world, defeated local qualifier David Goffin in the opening round but faces a much tougher task against Tomic. The pair has met on one previous occasion, with the Australian winning their 1st round clash at the 2009 Australian Open in four sets.
After getting a 1st round bye, second seed Feliciano Lopez begins his campaign against Sergiy Stakhovsky , with the victor set to meet the winner of the Tomic/Starace clash. Qualifier Marinko Matosevic is the other Australian in action and he faces Columbian Robert Farah .
