Monday 28 May, 2012 - A Mackay family was dumbfounded when they discovered that they had won over half a million dollars in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw 3219.
The family won a division one prize of $539,405.89, along with prizes in divisions three and four for a total of $560,613.49.
The winning grandmother said she and her husband couldn’t believe their eyes at first.
“We checked those numbers over and over again thinking there was some kind of mistake, but there wasn’t one!” she exclaimed.
“We were dumbfounded at first, and just hugged one another for a long time.”
The lucky winners aren’t sure yet how they’ll spend their Saturday Gold Lotto windfall.
“It’s not a fortune, but it gets us out of trouble.
“We’ll just put it away for a while to think about what we’ll do with it.”
The family purchased their winning QuickPick entry from Carroll’s Newsagency on Victoria Street in Mackay.
The Mackay family was one of eight division one winners nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3219 on 26 May 2012. They were one of two Queensland winners, with another three in Victoria, two in South Australia and one in Western Australia.
The winning numbers were 13, 38, 36, 37, 10 and 22 with supplementary numbers 28 and 42. There were also 61 division two winners who took home $9,594.55 each.
Public Relations Executive Zoe Knobel said Golden Casket is offering players the chance to win triple dividends in divisions two to five in this week’s Wednesday Gold Lotto draw on 30 May.
“That means a division two prize of even $5,000 automatically becomes $15,000! Buy a JUMBO QuickPick in this week’s Wednesday Gold Lotto for 36 chances to win triple the prize money in divisions two to five.”
