Adelaide United  faces Gamba Osaka  in Japan on Wednesday night, needing only a draw  to ensure they advance to the knockout stage of the competition. John Kosmina’s side tops Group E going into the final round of group matches on ten points, one point ahead of Pohang Steelers and three ahead of Bunyodkor, who clash in Uzbekistan. Although they may scrape through on goal difference should they lose and other results go their way, the Reds will be looking to get at least a draw out of the game against Gamba, to make sure of their place in the round of sixteen.

When Adelaide hosted the Japanese club earlier in the season, the Reds recorded a comfortable 2-0  win, with Daniel Mullen scoring a brace.

Brisbane Roar  concludes it’s disappointing Champions League campaign against Chinese Club Beijing Guoan  at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night, unable to qualify to the next phase. The A-League champions have failed to win any of their five games in Asia this season and have drawn only two, including a 1-1  draw against this side when they met in China in March.
