Despite winning just three of their opening six games this season, Hawthorn are still one of the best sides in the AFL and proved that with their 35 point win over St Kilda last weekend. They have dangerous players right across the ground and will be still be in the hunt for the premiership come September.

One team that you can’t say that about is Melbourne . The Demons have been woeful in 2012, failing to win a game and looking disorganised and unmotivated at times. First year coach Mark Neeld’s side is slowly improving however, and even if they cannot win, they must continue to improve.

Where It Will be Won – Lance Franklin  and Cyril Rioli  ran riot for the Hawks last Saturday night, kicking eleven goals between them. If they get a similar return against Melbourne, the game will be as good as over. The Demons have failed to kick more than eleven goals in any single game this season, with only Mitch Clark (fourteen goals in five games) posing a real threat for them in front of goal.

Prediction – Hawthorn has won the last eight clashes between these sides, with Melbourne failing to register a win against the Hawks since 2006. With Hawthorn looking to work their way up the ladder and build their percentage, this could get messy for the Demons. Hawthorn 40+
