The Central Coast Mariners host Tianjin Teda on Tuesday night, needing a win to have any chance of progressing to the next stage of the competition. They are currently last in Group G on goal difference, with just three points from their opening four matches in Asian competition, but could move as high as second with a win against the Chinese club. They will have to play better than they did in their most recent match however, a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of group leaders Seongnam Ilhwa in Korea.
Tianjin is also yet to post a post a win in Group G and is only ahead of the Mariners on goal difference. They drew 0-0 away to Nagoya Campus in their last AFC Champions League fixture and suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Chinese Super League leaders Guangzhou on the weekend.
When these teams met in gameweek one, the match ended 0-0 .
