2011 World Champion Casey Stoner will be bidding for his first win of the year when he contests the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday night (AEST). The Australian rider was only third in the opening race of the season in Qatar, when he reportedly suffered from cramps in his hands in the final stages. Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo won that event and will again be tough to beat this weekend, having won around the Jerez circuit in each of the past two seasons.
Fellow Spaniard Dani Pedrosa , a winner here in 2008, started the season with a second placed finish to his countryman in Qatar and will be looking to go one better on his home track. Although he disappointed when only tenth in the first race of the season, seven time world champion Valentino Rossi has fond memories of this venue having won here on six occasions.
