Chelsea  take a one goal advantage into the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final against Barcelona  on Wednesday morning (AEST) after winning the first leg at Stamford Bridge 1-0 last week. Holders Barca have an impressive home record in the competition and will fight to the end as they bid to reach a third final in four years.

The Catalan giants have been in scintillating form in the Champions League at home this season, scoring 18 goals in just five games. Five games at the Nou Camp have resulted in a draw and five wins, taking their unbeaten home record in the competition to fifteen matches. Pep Guardiola’s side warmed up for this fixture with a 2-0  League win at Mallorca on the weekend. Xavi is expected to start for against Chelsea after warming the bench in that match.

Chelsea goes to Spain off the back of a 0-0  stalemate with Arsenal in the Premier League on the weekend, after caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo made a host of changes for the match. Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Juan Mata are amongst the players expected to return for the crucial semi-final. Five away matches in the competition this season have resulted in two losses, two defeats and a 1-0  quarterfinal win over Benfica for the Londoners this season.
