Tuesday 17 April 2012 - An exceptionally lucky retired Buderim couple has come forward to claim their $485,913.22 division one share of the $4 million prize pool from Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw.
The players extended Nextra Express Mooloolaba’s lucky streak, after the agent sold a division one winning ticket that won $707,389.39 in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3205.
Part owner of the newsagency Andrew Bourne was thrilled that lightning would strike his outlet twice.
“Now I just hope we can make it a trifecta,” he said.
Golden Casket Public Relations Executive Zoe Knobel said the Sunshine Coast was having a run of luck with Saturday Gold Lotto winners.
“It’s very rare for an outlet to sell two division one winning tickets in consecutive weeks, so lotto luck is certainly shining on the Sunshine Coast!”
The winning couple said they are regular Saturday Gold Lotto and Oz Lotto players, and bought this
Saturday’s ticket while at Mooloolaba enjoying a coffee.
“We’ve been playing the same numbers for the last six years and it’s paid off,” the happy husband said.
“I found out I’d won while I was reading the Sunday newspaper.
“As soon as I saw the numbers I recognised them as mine because I’ve been playing the same ones so long!”
When he realised they’d suddenly struck it rich, there was only one thing on his mind.
“I had to go and wake my wife to share the exciting news.”
The couple already have a solid plan for how to make the most of their nearly half a million dollar windfall.
“We’ll use it to boost our retirement fund and make life more comfortable.”
The Buderim retirees were one of nine division one winners nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3207.
They were the only division one winners in Queensland, with four others in Victoria and one each in
Western Australia, Northern Territory, New South Wales and South Australia.
The winning numbers were 18, 25, 43, 13, 8 and 7 with supplementary numbers 17 and 4.
