Tuesday 17 April - This afternoon in Sydney’s Martin Place, five Instant Scratch-Its treasure chests were lined up, each containing a prize of between $10,000 and $200,000. Five promotional winners each had a key to a big prize; all they had to do was open their treasure chest to see what was inside!
Mrs H. L. from Delegate in Southern NSW flew to Sydney for the event, and the trip was certainly made worthwhile when her key opened the treasure chest containing the $200,000 top prize!
Although Mrs H.L. was the last person to open a treasure chest knowing that only the $200,000 remained, she said it wasn’t until she saw the prize that the reality of her win sank in.
“I was so nervous beforehand and when there were only two prizes left, a $10,000 prize and the $200,000 prize, my heart started racing,” the delighted winner said.
“I just can’t believe I’ve won $200,000. I can pay off the mortgage and it will certainly be good to be debt free.
“The first thing I want to do is ring my mum and dad and tell them, they will be delighted for me,” the winner who attended the event with her husband said.
“I play Instant Scratch-Its once a week and I always register non-winning tickets in the promotions.
“I am really enjoying the feeling of being a winner, it’s sensational,” the winner added with a laugh.
Mrs H.L. registered her non-winning $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket in the Treasure Chest promotion in February and won her chance to open a treasure chest at today’s event.
Also participating in today’s Instant Scratch-Its Treasure Chest event were Stephen Anthony from Dolls Point who won a $10,000 prize, Belinda from Penrith who also won a $10,000 prize. Karen from Greystanes who won a $30,000 prize and Carla from the Southern Highlands who won $50,000.
Audience members at today’s event also had the opportunity to win, with five lucky attendees scoring a $1,000 each.
