After opening the 2012 season with easy wins against inferior opposition, Carlton face their first real test when they take on Collingwood at the MCG on Friday night. The Blues were simply awesome in their 91 point win over the Lions in round 2 but will face a much stiffer task against the Magpies, who are getting some of their injured contingent back.
Nick Maxwell and Ben Johnson should return for Collingwood , while Cameron Wood and Alan Didak could also come into consideration. Just how many changes Nathan Buckley wants to make to the side that defeated Richmond by 21 points last week is something else they may want to consider.
Where It Will be Won
– Four of the competitions best midfielders will do battle in this match, with Marc Murphy and Chris Judd locking horns with Scott Pendlebury and Brownlow medallist Dane Swan . The duo that comes out on top in this area will go a long way to winning the match for their team.
– Despite having lost their past five matches against the Collingwood, Carlton go into this game as favourites. The Magpies have had the early part of their season interrupted by injuries to key players but are still sure to put up a good fight. Carlton 1-39
