Mystery Parramatta winner comes forward and claims $3 million Powerball prize

Wednesday 11 April - It took nearly one week to find out about his windfall, but the wait didn’t lessen the surprise for the mystery winner who scored a $3 million share of the $15 million division one prize pool in last Thursday’s Powerball draw.

The winner claims that he was carrying the winning ticket in his wallet without knowing its worth until this morning when he checked his ticket at his local newsagency.

“I don’t normally play Powerball, I just walked by the newsagency last week and thought I would go in and buy a ticket,” the winner who wishes to remain anonymous said.

“I don’t know what I will do with my winnings yet. I would like to give some to charity for sure,” the generous winner added.

Parramatta’s winner scored a $3 million share in the division one prize pool plus an additional $117,126 in division prizes on systems ten QuickPick ticket.

The winning ticket was sold from Dallas Newsagency at Shop 6, 162 Church Street, Parramatta.

NSW Lotteries officials were unable to contact the lucky winner and advise him of his windfall as the winning ticket was not registered to a Players Club card.

By registering all lottery purchases to a Players Club card, lottery players not only ensure that they never miss out on a prize, but ensure that they can be contacted with news of a big win.

Five winners shared Powerball’s $15 million jackpot, along with the anonymous Parramatta winner, a Harrington Park woman also won a $3 million prize. One winning ticket was also sold each in Queensland, Victoria and the Northern Territory.

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 829 were 39, 20, 37, 36 and 22 with the Powerball.
